School's out
....May the Force be with me. Good grief. We are already off to a most sucky start. For those of you new here, my summers consist of doing NOTHING and relaxing (if you call chasing after a 2 year old relaxing) at our neighborhood pool. More on that in another post. So, why then, do I have the craziest, busiest, summer ahead of me? And why have I not learned my lesson about saying no??
I used to say "no" all the time. there was a point in life that I was l-a-z-y....then I became a mother and all that went out the door. Of the 5 of us, I am the last person whose needs I meet...yeah, I am a saint that way. HA! So I thought when my PTF duties ended at school last week, I was home free. not so much. I forgot about one tiny detail...super volunteer for Whale of Sale. Yeah, it is me you will have to answer to if you bring in stained clothes and your items are not sized numerically. They put me in charge and I am loving the power...the preparation, not so much. Honestly, I forgot about it til I checked my cozi calendar....big meeting with the girls on Saturday morning. Am I ready? NOPE. But I work best under pressure...ask my college professors. Also, feel free to shoot me ideas.
On top of my WOS duties, planning our little Paris getaway and my husband's incessant badgering of "where do you want to vacation next year?" Um, can I get through June first?? The answer is simple, yet he keeps asking. Not too many places you can go with an ornery 3 year old and keep your sanity. Where was I? Oh, right, my busy life. Now, I have a sick kid to add to the misery. Yes, it could be ten times worse, but nothing tugs at your heart like seeing your child laying on a gurney in the ER with an IV, high on morphine and then putting him through a CT scan. Yes, he is still sick. I swear, if I utter the word Virus one more time, I may need institutionalized. My kids have been so sick this year and I am literally at my wits end. Had to cancel the cleaning lady this week, my house looks like a tornado tore through it (his name is William) and I am exhausted. Speaking of the William, he turns 2 tomorrow. Do I have any presents, cake, balloons. Nope. He is so the 3rd child...I better find a therapist for him NOW!!
Add Scentsy to the mix, and now I have a full plate. Oh, and most days I am a single mom. Hubby is a great father, husband, provider, etc. I love him immensely, but his job sucks. I had to go and fall in love with a surgeon. yeah, yeah, I know there are military wives and husbands who travel incessantly, etc, etc. I am so thankful I know where he is all hours of the day and not on some drug raid or responding to a fire. Life with 3 boys, volunteer duties, hobbies and a small, small business are crazy and it would be nice to have him home at night. Yeah, I could get a sitter, and I have awesome sitters to call on, but I hate dumping my kids. Poor William, probably thinks Olivia is his mother. That kid has been with her more than the 2 older monkeys ever were at that age. I would have needed a whole lotta Valium to leave Jeffrey at the age of 2 with a sitter.
So, yeah, this first week of summer vacation is off to great start :/ While the youngest is tearing up the house, the middle child glued to the couch and the oldest whining he is bored (I ended that quickly), I think I just may lose it. Oh, and no diet coke or Starbucks fraps to help my mood. Thinking of adding some Kahlua to my afternoon Arbonne protein shake. Oh and to add to the FUN, hubby informed me we have work party to attend Friday night. Awesome. At least there will be wine. Next week has to be better, right??

Things that annoy me
I could spend HOURS listing all the things that annoy me, but today, 2 things really got to me. Oh, I am still all fired up about the chick preaching birth control, but I digress.
So, it appears that the state of Pennsylvania just enacted a texting and driving ban, 50 bucks if you get busted. Same as Indiana. Really? How about 500? It is amazing to me the amount of people I see driving and texting/emailing,/twittering. Facebook is apparently still legal in the state of Indiana. I was behind some guy on 65 today, getting off on the Michigan Rd exit, doing 25. When I passed him...yup, typing away on his phone. Now, before you all jump on me....NO, I DO NOT CHECK MY PHONE WHEN DRIVING. I rarely ever talked on it when driving, now that I have bluetooth in my new van, I talk a little more. People can barely talk and drive, let alone text and drive. I was parked in the pick up line at school the other day, watched someone drive in, nearly hit the car in front of them...yup, she was punching the key pad as she drove into the pick up line. Seriously people, there is NOTHING that important that you can't put your phone down while in the car. And if it is that important...DON'T DRIVE!! Pull over!!
Ok, my second rant....people who can't keep their mouths shut and mind their own damn business. I can't stand gossipers, drives me insane. Is your life so empty and void that you have nothing better to do with your time then to talk shit on other people, then you have problems. Go seek out a good therapist. Seriously, this is why I don't work anymore. Women, especially nurses, are the biggest gossipers going.
There are specific examples I could talk about, but I will not. Suffice it to say, something happened.
It was a PRIVATE conversation amongst a group of people and someone ratted someone out. Clearly, someone never grew up and left high school antics behind them. I have enough on my plate with 3 kids, a husband who is never home, maintaining a home...to worry about what others are doing, saying, etc. Plus, it is none of my business, nor do I really care.
The only thing better is those that make stuff up. Here is a doozy, apparently I now live in Boston. Yup, someone asked Michael at his meeting, "how are you liking Boston?" They had HEARD he had taken a job there. People are idiots. I would LOVE to meet the person that started that rumor. Good thing I was not standing next to hubby when that comment was made. I will leave it at that....

What is the World coming too??
On the eve of Super Tuesday, I feel the need to vent about something that happened last week. Let me preface this post by saying, there will be typos, incorrect grammar, a few curse words....shoot me.
Now, we all know how much I despise Obama, his administration, and every single policy he has brought forth in the last 3.5 dismal years. The one thing that has me so fired up is Obama Care, what is sure to be a complete and utter failure. God willing, the Supreme Court will nix it in June. Now, 2 things came out last week about Obamacare. First, it is going to cost more. Say it ain't so?? You don't need to be a freakin genius from MIT to have figured this out. How much more?? Approximately $111BILLION. Which means, in reality $222 BILLION! F'in morons, every single one of them, who voted for this debacle. IF Obamacare becomes reality, it will DESTROY our economy, our healthcare and health professionals. Good luck finding a doctor. Nursing care already sucks, good luck finding highly skilled, trained and qualified nurses, like myself. I would not go near a hospital under obamacare. I will write another blog entry on socialized medicine at another time. I was a patient in England....NOT somethign I recommend.
Second, and if you have not heard about this travesty, then you have been living under a rock. Sorry, told you I was going to be blunt. Everyone heard of Sandra Fluke? No? Google her. She is the "co-ed" third year law student at Georgetown University who had the balls to get up in front of a congressional panel last week and actually TESTIFY to why it is unfair the the CATHOLIC university student health plan does not cover her birth control pills. Um, are you f'in serious?? I have seen it all now. I am going to try to cover this from all angles, but I am sure it will just become some long-winded rant, sorry to all you teachers out there cringing.
The Republicans would not let her testify, so the flaming bleeding heart liberals "invited" her to speak her peace and the shit went viral. Everyone picked it up. The next day she was crying to Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC how this was not fair. Um, how is this not fair exactly? According to Ms. Fluke, her birth control costs her $4,000 a year, more than she makes in the summer job. Hmmmmm. I have a very simple solution. How about a condom? And considering this moron lives in DC, I am sure there are PLENTY of clinics who hand out FREE condoms. Problem solved and I am not at Georgetown Law school. I hope this woman is not going into contractual or real estate law.
Hey, haven't most of us been there. College, freedom, experimentation. Those of us who were smart, used condoms. Here's why...HIV! Yeah, that nasty little virus that will KILL you. Sorry, Ms Fluke and the rest of you bleeding heart liberals, in case you forgot, BIRTH CONTROL PILLS DO NOT PREVENT HIV/AIDS or any other STD. Morons. So all these feminists are crying about how unfair this is to women's bodies and that if WE THE PEOPLE provide contraception, in this case, birth control pills, then we therefore prevent pregnancy, abortions and the costs involved in that. So do condoms and they are much cheaper. NOt once, in all this rhetoric I have watched, listened to, read from the bleeding hearts, have they EVER mentioned that BCP's do not prevent HIV. Now, HIV is MUCH more costly. So this braniac law student, is preaching she wants her BCP's so she can basically have risky sex. NEVER once I have I heard her or anyone defending her that she is in a monogamous relationship. I could go on, but you get my point.
Women's bodies....ah yes, the same argument that has been going on for years. So, I went through infertility. yeah, that was a fun process. Expensive too. Nope, health insurance at Johns Hopkins did not cover one single penny. Oh, but I am a woman, I have a right to bear children, therefore the government, taxpayers and insurance company MUST pay for my inability to have children the way God intended. I want to see ONE person testify to congress for that argument. One round of IVF, with about a 20% success rate, is anywhere from $20-30k. I don't hear couples bitching on tv how unfair insurance companies are when they don't cover infertility. Nope. they shut up and figure out how to pay for it. Woman gets pregnant and wants an abortion, more power to her. I do not like abortion, and I think we need to have MUCH more emphasis on adoption options for those women, BUT Government does not DICTATE what ANYONE can and can't do with their bodies (why I hate Obamacare). However, like infertility, the woman must pay for it. Not medicaid, not tax dollars and NOT the money you donate to Susan G Koman and whatever other "non-Profits" support planned parenthood. If I don't get my infertility covered, you don't get your abortion covered.
What has happened to us as a society? When did we become an entitlement society? I was young, I made stupid mistakes, but I owned up to them and took responsibility. If I was going to have sex (sorry mom and dad), I went to the drug store and bought some condoms. How the hell hard is that?? I just don't get it. Sandra Fluke is not some college kid. She is a 30 year old law student and she can't go down to CVS and by a pack of condoms. I bet though, she can afford that $6 Venti soy, no whip, organic latte.....
